Charlie and the Chocolate factory

A few of the mighty pins helped out Matt and Rhys, with Treorchy Comprehensive School's production of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. It was held in the School hall on July 11th and 12th. The signs werent good on the previous Sunday, when Gav, Small Tom and Sam turned up at the school, and ended up building half of the scenery.

Onto Tuesday and the opening night. Gav, Sam, Tall Tom, Small Tom and Beth were there. Beth had popped home from Oxford to have her car fixed and came over to give a hand. There were no real problems and the show ran well, apart from the boy who played Augustus Gloop, who was suppossed to fall into the chocolate river, but was milking it until Rhys shouted "Fall In " from the wings.

Onto Wednesday, and what fun we had. Sam couldnt make it, as she was riding rollercoasters and feeding Lions on a school trip. Beth had gone back, so we were short on crew. Lucky enough we had three pupils from the school Aimee, Rea and Ben to help us out, and fair play they were all good (and now want to join the Pins!).

The evening didnt start well as Jordan was on the curtains, which is situated up above the stage. All he had to do was shut the front curtains and open the back ones. The front curtains were half open revealing the Bucketts house. The crew cue came, we went on removed the chairs and tables in front of the curtains and waited for the curtains to shut. They didnt, they opened instead, the might pins were left exposed to a hall full of parents looking at them stupid as Gav and Rhys were screaming on the headsets at Jordan to shut the curtains. Now any normal person would have at that point shut them, not Jordan, he decided to have a discussion claiming that Rhys had told him to open them. Eventually he shut them.

The next scene was setting the chocolate room, and Jordan had to drop a weight in and Gav would hang a net curtain off it to represent a waterfall, Jordan dropped it in obout 3 feet above Gav who couldnt reach it, and was again on the headsets trying to get Jordan to drop it in, all in view of the audience.

Tall Tom later said that if anything goes wrong it should be known as "Doing a Jordan".

To top the night off, the Deputy Head gave a thank you speech, in which he thanked "The people you never see, the Hingepins!",well they bloody saw us alright. Thanks to everyone who helped out.
